Subject: Letter of Recommendation for Marvyn Romelus

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing this letter in support of Marvyn Romelus, currently a junior at Xaverian Brothers High School. I had the privilege of coaching Marvyn in football from second grade through Seventh grade, prior to his enrollment at Xaverian. During those many years, I was able to witness not only his growth as an athlete, but also his development as a young man and teammate.

From the very beginning, Marvyn stood out for his tenacity and genuine love for the game. Whether running the ball, scoring touchdowns, or serving as a force on the defensive line, he consistently gave his best effort every time he stepped onto the field. While his positions changed over the years based on the team’s needs, one thing never changed—his effort, determination, and desire to compete at a high level.

Marvyn plays the game with passion and toughness, but just as importantly, he plays for his teammates. He is the type of player who encourages others, leads by example, and puts the team’s success above his own. His work ethic and commitment made him someone his teammates could always rely on, and as a coach, someone you could trust in any situation.

Marvyn’s love for football, combined with his relentless effort and team-first mentality, makes him a special athlete and an outstanding young man. I am confident that the same qualities he demonstrated throughout his football career will continue to serve him well both on and off the field.

I served six years in the United States Marine Corps and am currently in my twenty-sixth year with the Framingham Fire Department. The toughness, discipline, and bonds I developed through football during my childhood and high school years helped prepare me for the most challenging moments of my life. Because of this, I coached young athletes with high expectations, knowing the game can help prepare them to overcome adversity both on and off the field. Marvyn thrived in that environment. He never quit, never appeared flustered under pressure, and consistently emerged as a leader among his peers.

While Marvyn is an outstanding football player, he is an even better student and person. He takes pride in his academics and carries the same discipline and focus from the field into the classroom. He is well respected by his peers and appreciated for the type of student, teammate, and friend he is. Marvyn treats others with respect, carries himself the right way, and is the kind of young man others naturally gravitate toward.

Please feel free to reach out if any additional information is needed.

Sincerely,

Jacob Conca (Head of School) –
I have known Marvyn for several years, both as a student at Xaverian but also as a family friend. In every interaction Marvyn is respectful, polite, and personable. Moreover, he is a hardworking and dedicated young man on the field and in the classroom. Given these traits and characteristics, I have every confidence that he will continue to find success both academically and athletically.
Joseph Sotelo (Theology Teacher):
Marvyn is an outstanding young man. His character, work ethic, and intellectual curiosity fuel his pursuit of excellence as a student athlete. He earns the respect of his peers and faculty, and undertakes his studies and tasks with courage and imagination. He is a wonderful representation of the type of young man we hope to represent our school and community, and brings his many skills, talents, and abilities on and off of the field to form community and teams that accomplish great things with daily commitments and focus. He would be a welcome addition to any community or team lucky enough to receive him.”

Sincerely,
Mr. Sotelo
